The Godwin Group LLC is a locally owned business headed by its founder, Dean Godwin. With our affiliate companies, we own and manage a mixture of retail neighborhood centers, flex offices / warehouses, and Industrial warehouse buildings. Our main focus is the development of new projects from the ground up, with our in-house construction company executing the construction. Once a project is completed, we offer and provide continued management for the properties. The Godwin Group and its affiliate companies currently own 30 commercial buildings totaling over 650,000 SF, with several new projects currently under development.

Meet Our Knowledgeable Team
Dean Godwin - Owner
After spending his youth working in various family businesses, Dean bought his first business, Trails End Auto Salvage, in 1986 at the age of 21. He operated Trails End Auto Salvage for 15 years. It was during this time that he began to venture into commercial real estate development.
Actively involved in the community, he served on the Ankeny Planning and Zoning Board for a decade. Dean also served on the Polk County Planning and Zoning Board and as the Managing Partner of the Briarwood Golf and Residential Community.
In his spare time, Dean and his family enjoy traveling and spending time at their lake home in Panora.
Zack Godwin - Leasing / Construction
Growing up working for the company, Zack is a natural fit to move into his role in assisting with the construction, leasing, and property management. Most days you will see Zack checking on the buildings and assisting on running the construction projects.
Zack enjoys golfing, and in the summer he likes spending time at the lake where he enjoys boating and wakesurfing.
Jay Mathews - Properties and Construction Manager
Jay has been with the company since the early '90s and is a big factor in our success. Jay is in the field every day of the week, whether it entails helping our tenants or running construction projects.
Away from work, Jay likes to ride his motorcycle and work around his acreage.
Vickie Johnson - Administrative Assistant
Vickie has been with The Godwin Group throughout its growth. She handles all office duties, including accounts payables and receivables, property management / CAM, leases, and more.
Vickie enjoys spending time with her grandchildren and “junking” at weekend fairs.
